After spending several months living in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, I developed a deep fascination with bison. These animals are often misunderstood—portrayed as aggressive or dangerous in popular media—but in reality, they are calm, deliberate, and deeply connected to the rhythm of the land. Bison hold great cultural and spiritual significance in many Indigenous traditions, symbolizing strength, endurance, and harmony with nature. Through my sculpture, I aim to honor the bison’s quiet power and presence, capturing both their physical form and the respect they command in the ecosystems and cultures they represent.
